Bike Safety

Today Mr Tonkin came to talk to us about bike safety. We watched a video about a boy who really wante a bike but he had to find a helmet first. At the start of the movie we saw a boy who had fallen off his bike and became unconscious. He is now brain damaged and cannot walk or talk. if he had been wearing a helmet he might be still OK. After we had watched the movie we went outside and did a safety checklist with our bikes. Mr Tonkin told us we had to get into pairs and get a bike.

Here is a photo of Sam and Susie checking each others helmet straps to make sure they are correctly fitted. If your helmet is too loose, it will not protect you in an accident. The best helmets are the ones that are brightly coloured so that they can be easily seen by drivers on the road. Helmets should also have a special safety approved sticker on them.

Happy Birthday to you.....

Toby and Alysha both turned 8 years old this week. They brought these delcious looking birthday cakes along to share with their classmates. Toby had some sparkler candles which he blew out but it took him quite a few puffs first!! The cake was banana flavour and it was scrumptious. We had to cut the cakes into 27 pieces so that everyone in our class got a piece to eat.

Alysha's mum baked this really cool popcorn cake, inside it was chocolate flavoured. It had real coloured popcorn on the top. Alysha got a brand new bike for her birthday and it is purple, white and black and it is very shiny!

Spider Webs

We are studying spiders this term as part of our science unit. Yesterday we made these wool webs. It was quite tricky to wrap the wool around the sticks to make a pattern. As you can see, Callum did a fantastic job of weaving his wool around to make this cool pattern. Some people got their wool a bit tangled up!

Here is Ellen working on her wool web. She is busy trying to weave some yellow wool around the sticks.
