Healthy Hamburgers
Faiga, Christine, Billy and Taylor are the chefs for today. The senior syndicate are selling hamburgers on Tuesdays to raise money for the ski trip. They are doing a great job, Ms Dowell doesn't even need to supervise the cooking as they are very responsible and capable of doing it all themselves!!

Yesterday Room 7 went to New World on a bus. Here is Jahmalaki,Laiana,Lyric,Sam H,Sapphire and Eva down the back seat of the bus. We had to get the bus because it was pouring down with rain. We had to take a pencil and book to write on so we could fill out our worksheet. The bus was fun even though it was only a short ride to town!from Jahmalaki and Eva

We videoed Ashlie and Tiana doing their ostrich farmer interview.
(Ashlie might get a job as a TV reporter one day!!)
Magic Marshmallows
On Friday we cooked marshmallows for privilege. Miss R chose two or three children at a time to go to the staffroom to make the marshmallows. Here is Ashlie , Lyric ,Sophie and Andrae holding some mega mallows. We were allowed 2 marshmallows each. When we put the mega mallows in the microwave for 40 seconds they went all puffy- it was cool to watch! They took a long time to eat because they were very sticky and they stuck to the plate.

Worm Farms
Winter is here!
Today snow fell on the mountains and it was freezing!!! There was ice on the ground and on the cars. We had to wrap up warm with our woolly gloves and hats. The skiiers and snowboarders will be pleased that it snowed. The Takaka Hill was closed yesterday because of the snow on the road.

Gymnastics Festival
The B Grade Gym Festival was held at the Motueka Rec Centre on Friday 6th June. 14 schools from around the Tasman district took part. Motueka South School entered 14 teams which was more than any other school. The B grade competition is all about participation and having fun. Children have been practising their routines for about 4 weeks. The festival comprises of 10 exercises which includes both team events as well as individual events. Pupils demonstrated their skills on the cross vault, long vault, skipping, pyramid, beam, floor and mat agility (handstand against a wall) .We started off with a Jump Jam session run by our senior pupils to get us all warmed up before we began our exercises. Here you can see some of the Mot South pupils doing Jump Jam.
Thankyou to Ms dowell who organised this event for all the schools, she did a fantastic job!
Thankyou also to the teachers and parents who helped to prepare our teams!
the MANA performance
We had a very talented performer visit our school last week. His name was Bernard and he was able to tell stories, sing, dance AND juggle. He now lives in Australia with his family but he was born in NZ. He wore lots of different costumes which represented various countries in the Pacific. Here he is dressed in traditional Hawaiian clothing - he was very entertaining and had the audience laughing along the whole time. He had a lot of energy on stage and is a very clever performer.

Mmmm..jelly and icecream!
We made jelly last week. Each group had a different flavour. We had to read the packet and follow the instructions carefully. It was a fun way to improve our writing and reading skills. We also had to work together as a group otherwise it wouldn't have worked very well. We put the jelly in the fridge for 2 hours and then once the jelly was set, we got to eat it with some hokey pokey icecream! (As you can see,Tiana and Ashlie like their jelly a lot!)
